Exclusive License Paves Way for Development of a Broad Range of RFID Products For Mobile Computing and Handheld Devices
Newark, CA- 1/26/2004 Socket Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCKT, PSE: SOK), the Mobile Connection Company, today announced an agreement for Socket to license worldwide SkyeTek’s Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology on an exclusive basis for the development of a broad range of products for mobile computing and handheld devices. The arrangement allows for multiple RFID frequency implementations and multi-function capabilities. This includes SkyeTek’s recently announced multi-protocol RFID reader/writer, SkyeRead M1-mini, measuring just 1 inch square – the world’s smallest device of its kind. Early technology demonstration and developer products from Socket are expected to be available in the middle of 2004.
“RFID products will be an extension to Socket’s existing bar code scanning business for the AutoID markets,” said Mike Gifford, Socket’s founder and executive vice president. “The new products will broaden our customer base as RFID technology is implemented and gains momentum. We selected SkyeTek’s technology because of its small form-factor, low power consumption, and firmware adaptability.”
“SkyeTek is extremely pleased to partner with Socket for solutions in the mobile and handheld device markets,” said Jonathan Bein, Ph.D., SkyeTek’s president. “Socket is a leading provider of products and solutions for the AutoID markets with worldwide distribution supported by VARs and system integrators. This partnership is positioned to meet a growing demand for RFID and mobile computing.”
About RFID
Radio frequency identification (RFID) first appeared in tracking and access applications during the 1980s. RFID wireless AIDC systems allow for non-contact reading and are effective in manufacturing and other hostile environments where bar code labels can not survive. RFID systems have tags and readers. Tags are microchip based radios with built-in antennas, which already have shrunk to the size of postage stamps. They listen for a radio query from a reader and respond by transmitting their unique ID code. RFID is established in a wide range of markets including retail, healthcare, livestock identification and automated vehicle identification (AVI) systems because of its ability to register and record moving objects.
About SkyeTek
SkyeTek develops and manufactures the most flexible, easily embedded and low-cost advanced radio frequency identification (RFID) read/write modules for OEMs, VARs and Systems Integrators to meet the demands of emerging RFID markets worldwide. The SkyeRead family of RFID reader modules includes one-inch square models, mini models and encrypted-data models complete with development kits and a wide range of software interfaces to enable fast starts for developers. SkyeTek supports a full range of ISO, EPC and industry standard RFID tags and smart labels. SkyeTek markets high-volume licensing and private-label options directly to OEM customers in a variety of verticals, as well as through a network of distributors, value-added resellers (VARs) and system integrators. Press Release

The term “Shock Jock” has become well known since the 1980s. These bad boys of the airwaves have happily stomped on and disregarded the FCC regulations to the delight – and at times, disgust of their audiences. The rule of thumb in the “Shock Jock” entertainment form is, the more disturbing, shocking, and politically incorrect the show – the better.
Howard Stern, one of the highest paid radio personalities in broadcast history is the one who is responsible for the phrase “Shock Jock” Howard Stern has proclaimed himself “King of the Media” With his great success he pioneered what is known as “Shock Jock” radio programs. It is commonly believed that Howard Stern’s exploitation of women, sex and his discrimination of certain ethnic groups is one of the main ingredients for his success. Howard Stern is the most fined personality in radio and actually encourages the fines and touts these FCC fines as if they were medals of Honor. The Howard Stern radio show was the beginning of a revolution in radio.
The Ingredients of Shock Jock Success
What is it about this type of radio program that brings so much success to these bad boys of the airwaves? The total shock value of their programs is one of the main ingredients to their success. For example, on one of Howard Stern’s radio shows, he convinced a female caller to have phone sex with him on the air. He made deep buzzing noises into his microphone, and had her sit on a speaker with the volume turned up until she reached an on-the-air orgasm. Another notorios example occurred on DC101 Radio in Washington D.C. in which Stern called Air Florida Airlines and asked what the fare was for a one-way ticket from National Airport to the 14th Street Bridge. He was making light of the crash of an Air Florida flight into Washington D.C.’s 14th Street Bridge one day earlier, on January 13, 1982. That June 29, Stern was fired from DC-101 radio after being suspended for criticizing his station management and two other radio stations.
The number of commercials aired during his radio show has greatly increased from the 1980s to the present. Though Howard Stern has brought much critisism to this form of entertainment, he still seems to be able to draw hords of listeners. Despite the provocative content of Stern’s showor perhaps because of itmany listeners and critics consider Stern to be a talented on-air personality and formidable interviewer.
The FCC and the Broadcast Industry Cracksdown
Howard Stern’s fame has brought out a number of imitation “shock jocks” who try to top Stern in terms of offensiveness and rudeness, but these imitators have found themselves with more troubles to worry about than listener ratings. In 2002 fellow Infinity Broadcasting Corporation jocks Opie and Anthony had their nationally syndicated WNEW-FM “extreme talk” show cancelled after they managed to get a couple to engage in sexual intercourse at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, then airing a running commentary of the act on their show.
Though Stern’s show is generally considered not to be as offensive as Opie and Anthony, on February 25, 2004, Clear Channel Communications “indefinitely suspended” him from six markets because of alleged indecency. The broadcasted show that brough so much retribution, featured Rick Salomon, whose sole claim to fame is the release of video showing him having sex with Paris Hilton.
During this show Stern held a sexually-oriented interview with Soloman, asking him graphic questions about anal sex. This came only a day after Clear Channel fired Bubba the Love Sponge for nearly the same reason.
This is considered to be part of a crackdown triggered by the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show controversy. Because Clear Channel and some of its executives have donated over $200,000 to the Republican Party, Stern claims the company was trying to penalize him for his ruthless criticisms of President George W. Bush. He endorsed John Kerry in the 2004 U.S. presidential campaign, and encouraged listeners to vote for him.
On April 8, 2004, Clear Channel Communications announced it would “permanently terminate” its relationship with the shock jock after being fined $500,000 by the FCC. However, on July 19, Stern returned to four of the six markets Clear Channel taken him off of, and added five new ones to his list this time on Infinity-owned stations. In August, he returned to a fifth market, Miami, on an independent station. His return was greeted with controversy as the Miami Dolphins threatened to terminate their broadcast deal with the station if they did not fire him.
As a result of the this type of show’s offensive practices there have been enormous fines as well as even more dire consequences to the personalities known as “Shock Jocks” Though the fines to these areas of broadcasting mounted up over the years in the most part the it was tolerated until era of the Janet Jackson scandal. With this broadcast scandal – tolerance went out the window and in came fierce regulation of the broadcast world.
Shock Jocks Turn To Satellite Radio
Like satellite television, Satellite radio is not marketed to any one demographic more than any other. The concept behind satellite radio is very basic. Satellite audio’s model is a basic copy of Satellite television. XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Radio both have looked at DirecTV’s success and set out to attract the same market to its product.
In the United States, two companies have monopolized satellite radio: XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio. XM has a 100,000 Sq. Ft. broadcasting facility in Washington DC as well as some satellite offices in New York. Sirius broadcasts out of New York City. They both require a person to buy equipment ranging from $200 to $500 in order to receive the signal, and they both have similar methods for dealing with spots not conducive to satellite coverage.
Originally some XM music channels had commercials, while Sirius was commercial-free. Since February 2004 XM has 68 Commercial-Free Music Channels, 33 Channels of News, Sports, Talk & Entertainment, 21 dedicated Channels of XM Instant Traffic & Weather. Sirius has 65 music-only channels as well as traffic and weather reports for major cities. XM operates on 2 geostationary satellites while Sirius uses 3 geosynchronous satellites. Both services are available mainly via portable receivers in automobiles, but both have many accessories so you can listen at home through your stereo, with a portable boombox, or online through your computer.
Local repeaters, on the same satellite frequencies, allow XM and Sirius’s signals to be available even if the view of the satellite is blocked. As of June 30, 2004, XM claimed 2.1 million subscribers, and Sirius claimed 400,000.
Car manufacturers have been installing satellite radio receivers in some models for a few years now, and several models of portable satellite radio receivers are available from a variety of electronics companies
Howard Stern heads for Satellite Radio
On October 6, 2004, Stern announced on his show that he has signed a five year, $500 million deal with the satellite radio service Sirius. The deal, which takes effect on January 1, 2006, would enable Stern to broadcast his show without restrictions imposed by the FCC. The deal would permit Howard Stern to program two additional Sirius channels, one of which would be available at an extra charge to subscribers.
Opie and Anthony
Opie and Anthony are hosts of the satellite radio program ‘The Opie and Anthony Show.’ The show is based in New York City and airs on XM Satellite Radio. The show was previously on WNEW-FM in New York and WAAF-FM in Boston.
Opie and Anthony’s crude style of entertainment has earned them the status of the elite of “shock jocks”
The pair signed a contract with XM on August 5, 2004 and started broadcasting October 4th of the same year. They had remained off-the-air for about two years as Infinity Broadcasting, their previous employer, held them to their contract as well as their no-compete clause. On XM satellite radio, O&A are no longer bound by FCC regulations regarding language and content, thus curses and pollitically incorrect humor are common on their show.
There is some concern that with the initialization of satellite radio that mainstream media will begin to be monoplized by a few companies and many radio stations go off the air. Though it is important to safe guard the media from monopolization of the few, the future of the airwaves are in the heavens with satellite radio.

There are several ways to overcome Anemia. Some well known home remedies are the eating of dates or figs. Figs, or dates especially, have constituents in them to give your blood what it needs to build up & beat the anemia issue.
Some holistic practitioners caution the use of dates because some people have had issues with the dates effecting the enamel of their teeth. Others say that there is no danger to the teeth & point out that the Arabs eat dates & have never expressed complaints about problems with their teeth.
If you have an anemia challenge, then consult your doctor or holistic practitioner about how to use dates to build up the blood iron.
My friend Chandra was suffering from Anemia & her holistic practitioner suggested that she eat both dates & figs in her diet to build up her blood & to overtake the anemic tendencies.
She has been doing this for 6 months now & already her red blod cell count has improved markedly. She also has increased certain vitamins & minerals which include dandelion root & spirulina, vitamins B12 folic acic (also a B vitamin), & along with her dates & figs to include a couple of tablespoons of blackstrap molasses, once or twice daily, as molasses is very rich in the B vitamins. She also cut out candy & soft drinks to help with the issue.

Fear , a World Disease
Fear has spread around the world at the speed of a hurricane. Who is spreading this disease of fear? Humanity is. Why? It is because humanity has basic fears instilled into them when they are children, and now these fears have grown out of all proportion.
Let’s look at what we fear. Parents tell their children not to speak to strangers in case they are abducted. So children learn from an early age that the world is not a safe place! ‘Do not stray from home, or someone will take you away’.
We fear illness, cancer and aids. We are told ‘Don’t eat this and don’t eat that. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, if you don’t you increase your risk of disease and cancer!’ This fear about our diets is promoted weekly in the news.
We are sold insurance policies, medical insurance, home insurance, accident insurance, life insurance, all ‘just in case something happens.’ This reinforces our fears and securities, so we try harder to guard against them. Again, the idea that the world is not a safe place is being reinforced. Fear of lack, fear of not being abundant, fear of not having enough are all promoted and played upon. So we work harder, forfeit family life and mothers go out to work leaving their children to be brought up by strangers. All of this because we fear we do not have enough.
Fear of what other people think about us, is very high on our list of insecurities. We judge other people and other people judge us! We even live our lives doing what other people want us to do rather than being true to ourselves, because we are afraid of being judged by them.
Throughout our history, governments, monarchs and religion have all controlled the people by instilling fear. Why? Fearful people can be swayed, persuaded to do what commonsense tells them not to. Fear has been programmed into our psyches. For lifetime after lifetime we have been steeped in fear. The stress and anxiety of all these fears compromises our health physically and mentally.
The sad fact is that the more we fear, the more we draw our fears to us. We are very powerful beings; we manifest our beliefs, thus creating our reality. The more we fear, the more we draw it into our lives and disaster strikes. Stop for a moment and think about what you really fear. Are they actually your fears or are they someone else’s? Are they government based or media based? Are they the Truth? What do you really think? Sharpen your awareness so that can stand back and take a look at what is going on around you. Look at your life and how you live it. Do you need to be in so much fear?
On an individual level, we can stop this dis-ease. We can clear it, let go of it and not ‘buy into it’. If we set the intention that we will not be swayed by fear and that we always wish to see the higher truth behind a matter. If we just use our common sense, then it will be the beginning of curing fear – the world disease.

Spiraling rainbows shimmering on all peripheries; things take on a mystical hue when those certain vibratory frequecnies are reached. It is the music of life.
What note are we vibrating to? What pitch are we giving off? And how do we change pitch? Do we create our own rhythm or do we follow along with a rhythm that is beyond ourselves?
But is anything beyond us? Is the primal rhythm of the universe not the same rhythm that echoes in our bones? If so, we are part of the creation. Our pitch is part of the overall tone.
The vibratory pitches that feel good are those that we created as markers for us to follow towards our ideal frequency; the frequency that expresses our total being. We have written a symphony and every note is a bread crumb dropped to help us find our way home. As we feel and embrace each bread crumb we get closer to the wholeness of our being.
Can we embrace each note or frequency unconditionally? Can we surrender to the music flowing through us? Can we live the music flowing through us? Can we dance to the music without judging it? Can we let it flow through our bodies unimpeded? Is it flowing out of your fingertips and out of your mouth and out of your feet?

So you want to put up a web page? As a relative newcomer myself to the magical world of web sites – I only went online in July of ‘99, and I didn’t even know how to send emails – I have picked up many valuable tips from the Jaydee newsletter. Most of the articles though are directed towards the pro and semi pro, but what about the budding beginner? Before you can get to appreciating the finer points of the Jaydee feature articles on web site design and promotion etcetera, you have to get that page up, and where do you start? The following is a basic step by step for the beginner that will help get them onto the main road of web site construction.
To start: First, set up a file, and keep everything that is going to be related to your page/site together in this file. Then open a blank web page on your browser. If you were in Netscape, you would do this through COMPOSER. When you have a page opened and saved, insert an image, any image, just for the sake of this example.
To do this, you go to INSERT, choose your image from the menu, and click it into your page. Then (if in COMPOSER) go to FORMAT and choose PAGE COLORS AND PROPERTIES, and pick a color for your page background. Then place a button at the bottom of your page. Buttons are used to link your pages.
Repeat this process again, and create a second page with a button. Choose LINK on the main menu, and link your first page to the second. Now go back to the first page, and link the button there to your second page. Then link the button on your second page, back to the first. Now test out your links in the preview mode on your browser. If the links work okay, then you’re ready to upload these example pages to your site.
To upload pages to your site space, you will need and FTP engine. FTP, means File Transfer Protocol. An FTP engine, is a software device which enables you to transfer your pages (files) from your hard drive to your site. The most recommended FTP engine for beginners, is the WS-FTP PRO 6.5. Here is how you can get one.
Go into a site called Tucows at <http://www.tucows.com>, where you’ll find almost everything under the sun that any computer buff could want. When you get into Tucows, in the first screen, click on Win 95/98, or Mac, whatever your system is. In the second screen, click on your region, general; and in the third screen, on your region local. This will take you to the fourth screen where you find the box: NETWORK TOOLS, and here you click on FTP ARCHIE. This will take you into the final screen, where you will scroll down to the very last item on the page: which is the WS-FTP PRO 6.5, and download it. This may take about fifteen minutes. After down loading, you will find two little yellow icons on your desktop.
Double click on the top one, the FTP-pro, not the FTP-explorer. When you open the FTP engine, fill in the boxes with your server address, your user name and password, and then click on QUICK CONNECT. This will bring up a split screen. What is on the left side of the screen, is what is on your hard drive, and what is on the right screen, is what is on your site.
To upload, in the left hand box, choose your web page file in whatever drive it’s in, click and open it. You will see the two entries for the web pages you have just designed. Hi-light the first one, and then in the middle of the two screens, where you see two arrows, one pointing left and one pointing right, click on the one pointing right and this will upload your page to your site. Follow through the same way for the second page, and your site is up!
This is a very, very basic step by step, and there is a whole lot more to learn, but I know that I would have liked to read something like this when I was starting out back in July. Good luck!

At this present you can check rates quickly at websites and meet if there are possible sneaky traps you should be aware of. to see if the bank who you a credit loan is upright. It makes no difference if you live in Largo Florida or in Gadsden Alabama a dependable online inspection will spare you often . A moneylender in Bridgeport Connecticut or so may have a total totally different actual loan rate for a 32500 dollar loan then a merchant bank in Fort Smith Arkansas and that makes a big clear difference in your monthly pay backs. 8.5 percent rate of interest may look so fair but will it stay ceaseless after you have to reinforce your money loan. You should be fresh today to inspect if you have a bargain or if you don’t with the moneylender that offers you a bank loan.
A lot of the moneylenders wil show you a interest rate that is looking fairish but feels mischievously or so after a period of time. now you really need to check over and run into if you can have a money loan at a honest percent loan rate.

Out of many of the free RSS and blogging services that I have tried one of the most useful has been Feedburner. Feedburner allows you to publish your RSS feed and provides circulation statistics about your RSS feed. It also allows you to make your feed more friendly by using Feedburners Smartfeed system and can also make your feed browser friendly.
The most useful service provided by Feedburner are it’s circulation statistics. These statistics are not only useful for yourself to see how popular your feed is but also to provide circulation statistics to potential advertisers. Feedburner can tell you which RSS readers are being used to read your feed, how many readers you have and which posts readers are clicking through back to your website.
Feedburners Smartfeed system can supply the most valid feed by detecting which RSS reader the user is using. This irons out any potential compatibility problems there may be between your feed and the readers feed reading software. If your visitor click on your RSS feed subscription link Feedburner will provide your visitor with a web friendly version of the feed rather than an unformatted XML file. This is great for educating the reader about RSS feeds.
To use Feedburners services first you need to go to Feedburner and enter your feed link. Your feed link is the address you give your readers to add your feed to their feed readers. Take a look at my RSS sign up page at Newsniche to get a better idea of how this works.
Once you have your feed address enter it into text box on the Feedburner page. Clicking on ok will bring up a page with all of the options for your feed, you will need to decide for yourself which services you need. At the bottom of the page will be your new feed address which you will now offer to your readers instead of your original feed address. Follow the rest of the instructions to complete the process and then you will have an improved feed with statistics.
There is one final point before we finish and it is something optional you may wish to choose. You may wish to keep your existing feed address if you have existing subscribers and to future proof your feed. To do this you will need to use an HTTP redirect in your htaccess file. If this means nothing to you I would suggest further research before doing this.
You will need to add a new line to your htaccess file.
redirect temp /rssfeed.xml http://feeds.feedburner.com/feedburnerFeed
You will need to change /rssfeed.xml to the name of your current feed and the Feedburner path to the new feed address you will be given by Feedburner. You will need to point Feedburner to a copy of your feed that only Feedburner will see. You will then offer the /rssfeed.xml feed address you created in your htaccess file to you visitors to subscribe to your feed.
This is how it should work. Feedburner will periodically check your address you gave to Feedburner for new posts. Your visitors will subscribe using the address you used in your htaccess file and get redirected to the feed that Feedburner has created for you. This will mean that in the future if you wish to stop using the Feedburner service all you need to do is remove the line from your htaccess file and your readers will not notice any difference.
