Firstly, You couldn’t describe me as downright happy as an “independent” (aka: naturally single) person and remain an honest woman. Even then, I’m not uncomfortable about it, either. I only mention it in this blog as an ear-catching detail foreshadowing what I am about to discuss honestly.
A week ago today yours truly met for coffee with Corey, thinking of signing up for Dallas Personals site. As of this minute, I stand to you as a happy member of the singles network. For real, and I almost don’t believe it myself! Its very comfortable and full of nice people! If you know me at all, you may be wondering, “You totally owe me an explanation.”
Here’s how it went down, I saw this Great Expectations Dating site and can really get behind their approach. They’re for the honest singles who know dating doesn’t have to be so frivolous and stupid.
Because I’d never enjoyed or even tolerated the ridiculous nightlife ritual most people call “Dating.” I heard it more than anyone should. Each night people nagg, “You’re still single? ” and “Just get out there and date him!”
“That’s rubbish,” I say to them, smiling ear to ear. “Take a look around, I’m not missing much.”
“You’re as ridiculous as you are hilarious,” they reply. “You haven’t dated in a year, you wouldn’t know!”
Leave it to my partner in crime The One-And-Only (hehe) Patty Holland. She beams rational thought directly to my core to put me back on course. People I depend on . She made a good point, and I thank her for it.
Back to the message of this essay. As I browsed from hundreds of combinations of outfits for my first singles event with Great Expectations, a revelation hit me real. For years, I hadn’t held too many actual great expectations for dating in the fun-filled winding course of life. It’s good to be single, especially when you get out there and have fun. Having great expectations makes a difference on a cynics social life.
