Laxton is a small village in north Nottinghamshire, going back to 1066 and the Norman Conquest.
Visitors can go to the castle site at the outskirts of Laxton, and see Nottinghamshires best preserved motte and bailey castle.
One can also view the attractive, and pleasant, Church of St Michael the Archangel which goes back to early 12th century and is still used today.
All the same, what makes the village of Laxton really singular is its continued use of the open farming system.
