Shortsightedness, or Nearsightedness, is a vision problem experienced by up to about one-third of the population. With Short sighted individuals, you find that they can see without any difficulty, objects placed close to them, but have a real problem seeing objects placed at a distance
Symptoms and Signs
Short sighted individuals will struggle with tired eyes or have particular problems when driving or playing certain sports. They may suffer from eye strain. They could complain of head aches.
What Causes Nearsightedness?
Nearsightedness occurs when the eyeball is slightly longer than usual from front to back. This causes light rays to focus at a point in front of the retina, rather than directly on its surface.
Nearsightedness runs in families and usually appears in childhood. This vision trouble may stabilise at a certain point, although sometimes it declines with age. This is known as myopic creep.
Nearsightedness Treatment
Shortsightedness may be corrected with onlinespectacles, contact lenses or eye surgery. Depending on your vision job, you may need to wear your glasses or contact lenses all the time or only when you want distance vision, like driving, seeing a chalkboard or watching a movie. If you’re Myopic, your prescription is a negative number. The greater the number, the worse your lenses will be.
